Questions bout how the Home Wellness Snapshot works?

We believe you should understand how your score is calculated, what it means, and what it doesn't. Here are answers to some of the most common questions.

What does the Home Wellness Score™ measure—and what doesn't it?

The Home Wellness Score™ is an educational snapshot of everyday household habits and exposures that research suggests can influence long-term health. It looks at areas like food contact, indoor air, drinking water, cleaning routines, household products, and other common lifestyle factors.

The score is not a measure of your home's safety, cleanliness, or value, and it isn't a medical diagnosis or environmental inspection. Instead, it's designed to help you identify practical opportunities to reduce unnecessary exposures and prioritize changes that are likely to have the greatest impact.

Does a lower score mean my home is unsafe?

      Not at all.

A lower score simply means there may be more opportunities to reduce everyday exposures based on the information you shared.

Many healthy families receive moderate scores because modern homes contain common products and materials that nearly everyone encounters. The goal isn't perfection—it's helping you make informed decisions about where to start.

What scientific research is the score based on?

The Home Wellness Score™ is informed by peer-reviewed research, recommendations from respected public health organizations, and current evidence related to everyday environmental exposures.

We continuously review emerging research and update our educational guidance as scientific understanding evolves.

      How does physician review work?

Our educational content, scoring framework, and recommendations are reviewed by a board-certified physician to help ensure they reflect current scientific understanding and emphasize practical, evidence-informed guidance.

Our goal is to translate complex environmental health research into information that's understandable and useful for everyday families.

      How are quiz answers weighted?

Not every question contributes equally to your score.

Our scoring model considers factors such as:

      • How often an exposure occurs
      • How significant the potential exposure may be
      • Whether more vulnerable household members (such as infants, children, or pregnant individuals) may be affected
      • The strength and consistency of available scientific evidence
      • Whether the exposure is reasonably actionable

This approach helps ensure recommendations focus on meaningful improvements rather than perfection.

Why do vulnerability, frequency, and practicality matter?

A small exposure that happens many times every day may deserve more attention than a larger exposure that happens only occasionally.

Similarly, households with babies, young children, or pregnant family members may benefit from prioritizing certain changes sooner.

We also believe recommendations should be realistic. Sustainable improvements happen one step at a time—not all at once.

      How are recommendations prioritized?

Your recommendations are ranked using three principles:

      • Potential impact — changes likely to reduce meaningful everyday exposures.
      • Practicality — improvements that are realistic for most households.
      • Personal relevance — recommendations based on your unique quiz responses.

Rather than overwhelming you with dozens of suggestions, we focus on the next few actions most likely to move the needle.

Why don't you recommend changing everything?

Because not every change has the same impact.

We believe families deserve practical guidance—not endless to-do lists.

That's why we focus on helping you identify the few improvements likely to make the biggest difference first.

Why is the score educational rather than diagnostic?

Your Home Wellness Snapshot™ is based on self-reported information and cannot measure actual environmental conditions inside your home.

Only laboratory testing, professional inspections, or medical evaluation can diagnose specific environmental or health concerns.

The Home Wellness Score™ is intended to help you better understand everyday habits and identify practical opportunities for improvement—not diagnose disease or environmental hazards.

      Will my information remain private?

Your quiz responses are used to generate your personalized results and improve your experience.

We never sell personal information, and we only use your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

How often should I retake the Snapshot?

Most families benefit from retaking the Snapshot every 6–12 months, or after significant life changes such as:

      • moving to a new home
      • welcoming a new baby
      • completing a renovation
      • replacing household products
      • installing new filtration or ventilation systems
      • making meaningful changes based on your previous Home Wellness Snapshot recommendations
How does the score improve over time?

Your home changes—and so can your score.

As you make improvements, replace products, update household routines, or complete a more comprehensive assessment in the future, your Home Wellness Score™ can reflect that progress.

Our long-term vision is to help families continuously improve their home wellness over time rather than striving for perfection all at once.
